Meet Dale Ryan

Dale has spent a lifetime as an innovator in the composites industry. He started (at age 14), by rebuilding Chevrolet Corvette automobiles, progressing from there to complete auto bodies, dynamic air-flow hoods for Volvo-GM, Olympic bob-sleds, and a patented composite flat-bed trailer, later sold to a major U.S. trailer manufacturer.

Ryan's Award Winning Designs

This trailer was honored by the top composites industry innovation award, the Owens Corning “Grand Counterpoise Award”, as well as the State of South Dakota IBEX award for the best business concept.

In 1997 he was invited by Clinton Administration Science Advisors, Dr Jack Gibbons and W. Bowman Cutter, to work with the Secretary of Transportation, Federico Pena, on innovative “Composite Bridge” demonstrations, (displayed in front of the Capital on the National Mall); among other collaboration he has worked with Burt Rutan at the Scaled Composites facility in Mojave, California on several projects.

In 1996 Nisa and Dale presented “Innovations in Composite Technology” to Dr. Zhou Peinen, Economic Counsel for the Peoples Republic of China at the Embassy in Washington DC. He has received multiple Federal DOT and USDA (SBIR) grants, totaling in excess of $800,000 dollars. Mr Ryan has over 6 years experience establishing, and operating, a 60,000sq ft factory in Northern Thailand.

Mr. and Mrs. Ryan donated their time in Muzafarrabad, Pakistan building easily transported Structural Insulated Panel field hospitals (their own design), desperately needed after the devastating earthquake in 2004. They also built and donated small houses for the victims of the Thailand tsunami, with the majority fabricated in Khao-Lak, Thailand.

Mr Ryan presented the Graduation Seminar for 140 recently graduated composite engineers at Winona State University, Winona, Minnesota. Over the past few years, he has focused on developing a viable “Composite” technology that outperforms treated-wood, steel, and concrete, and is cost-competitive directly with chemically treated wood, as used in the Electric Utility, and Railroad industries.

This work has resulted in issued, and pending, patent protection, and most importantly, a robust technology that is now poised to enter into commercial applications.

Mr Ryan has over 15 years experience with natural fiber composites, and currently holds 9 U.S. Utility patents, 2 Global PCT patents, and 5 pending Provisional Patents

Mr Ryan has flown fixed wing aircraft (licensed 1971) and helicopters (licensed 1975). Most recently he has developed an innovative design for wood cranemats, which are the “wood roads” used in off-road construction projects, such as wind turbine, pipeline, and high-tension electric transmission line installations.

In 2010 Mr. Ryan became involved in a low income housing project aimed at providing quality shelter in Angola, South Sudan, and Uganda. He accepted an invitation to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. Traveled to the Royal Palace where he met with Crown Prince Tachnoon and Crown Prince Muhammed. The UAE Royals plan to provide houses for Africa, in exchange for a favored position regarding their oil exports.

In 2012 the Ryans returned from seven years in Thailand and opened a 16,000sq ft facility in Green Cove Springs, Florida. They improved on the fiberglass utility pole work they did in Thailand (manufacturing up to 120ft cell towers). In 2013 they moved into a 130,000sq ft facility that was in the same industrial park as the 16k building. They have produced innovative fiberglass crossarms, fiberglass utility poles, tiny houses, refugee houses, and a new design for log cabins. They are currently planning to commercialize the poles and crossarms using a new low-cost approach.

In 2016-2017 the Ryans developed a new ceramic material with unusual properties. The extremely inexpensive material can be made Bulletproof, Fireproof, UV proof, Waterproof, and Abrasion proof. This material is easily moldable into any abstract shapes and can be reinforced with either glass or carbon fibers. The material is almost non-sandable as it will strip the abrasive from the sandpaper very quickly. The inventor is certain that there are thousands of applications for this new ambient-temp-cure ceramic.

meet Nisa Ryan

Nisa is a Business Administration graduate of the Thai College of Commerce in Bangkok. She and Dale met while she was attending Alabama State University in Huntsville. They have worked together for the past 25 years on composite initiatives, including the establishment of a composite materials operation in Thailand.

Her family is prominent in Thailand; her father was the Minister of Agriculture, and her uncle was the Prime Minister of the country. She worked for the Thai-Danu bank and was in Public Relations for the Oriental Hotel of Bangkok, (8 years voted the finest hotel in the world).

Nisa, a former Thai and American model, was Mrs. South Dakota International in 1999-2000 and went on to compete in Dallas for the National crown. In 2003 Nisa was hired by Citibank to appear in their National credit card campaign. Dale and Nisa were television hosts for the Jerry Lewis Telethon ”For Jerry’s kids”. Dale and Nisa received an invitation to President Bill Clinton’s second-term inaugural and attended the the Senate Dinner and Western Inaugural Ball.

Nisa is a partner in the manufacturing business and has several inventions and chemical formulations to her credit. She is excited about the recent innovations with the ceramic material, particularly with the application for bulletproof school classroom doors and fireproof shingles (California Wildfire Protection).
